Rivet stud with skirt

NBR, the new type of rivet stud from PROFIL is riveted into pre-punched formed sheet metal parts. The formed sheet metal part is form-fitted and friction-locked between the stud head and the rivet section around the threaded shaft in the process. This results in a connection that can withstand extremely high dynamic and static load conditions in pull or push direction. Only the support areas of the stud are being formed for the placement of the rivet so that the sheet metal part remains completely intact.

Application area

  • These rivet studs can be used for component thicknesses from 0.5 to 2.5 mm and tensile strengths of up to 1000 MPa
  • Suitable for a wide range of high dynamic, static and impact load conditions
  • Suitable for use where threaded fittings need to be resistant to high axial forces
  • Can be used for aluminium or other materials
  • Suitable for use with surface-treated, galvanised or painted components

Processing steps

  • Prepare hole
  • Position component above die
  • The support fastener is pushed through the component material by means of axial motion
  • The specific geometry of the die is used to form the stud shaft around the hole of the component material so as to result in a form-fitting and friction-locking connection.
